Functional Description:The Director of Information Technology Services has overall responsibility for the college's computer, data, voice and video systems, operations and services. The Director of IT Services heads the IT Services management team that also includes the Director of Information Management Services and the Director of Client Services.
Essential Functions

Advises the vice president for administration and information technology on matters related to information technology.

Guides the development of a strategic plan for information technology services.

Establishes annual departmental goals and regularly assesses progress toward those goals.

Measures the effectiveness of departmental programs and initiatives on a regular basis.

Manages and provides appropriate training and professional development opportunities for the IT Services staff.

Administers information technology budgets and oversees the purchase of information technology products/services.

Establishes standards for computers, data, and voice equipment and related items and services.

Formulates and administers information technology policies and procedures including disaster recovery plans.

Identifies, evaluates and recommends emerging technologies appropriate for use at the college.

Provides leadership in the promotion and communication of information technology support, services and projects.

Provides adequate security and backup of information stored on the college’s enterprise servers.

Collaborates with the Business Office on information privacy, security and compliance.

Oversees design and content of IT Services’ websites, blogs, videos and other online resources.

Offers leadership and assistance in providing adequate training to users of information technology services.

Fosters a widespread awareness of good computer ethics within the campus community.

Serves as contact for Facilities Services on projects.
Additional Responsibilities
- Supervises the technical services group within IT Services.
- Administers cable TV and other video services in collaboration with the Director of Media Services.

External Working Relationships: Parents, Vendors, Consultants, Contractors, Government and Regulatory Bodies

Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor's Degree, Ten years of successful experience in IT, at least five in IT management, preferably in a higher education setting.
