Welcome by Mr. Wesley T. Dellinger '75, P'05
“As chair of the Board of Trustees and a proud graduate of Lebanon Valley College, it is my distinct pleasure to welcome everyone to this seminal occasion in the history of our College—the inauguration of our 18th president, Dr. Lewis Evitts Thayne. This day allows us a unique opportunity. It permits us to look back and celebrate many great traditions that define the history of our distinguished institution. It allows us to contemplate the current state of the College and our many fine programs. And it enables us to look toward the future and chart a course to guide Lebanon Valley College to thrive, grow, and change in the years ahead. Please enjoy today’s programs and festivities. And thank you for your steadfast support of our beloved institution.
It is now an honor for me to introduce another graduate of Lebanon Valley College, a member of the Class of 1971. He also just happens to be the current governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Honorable Tom Corbett. You can read about Governor Corbett’s many professional accomplishments in your program. What I would like to emphasize today is the deep, abiding bond that the Governor and his wife, Susan Manbeck Corbett, LVC Class of 1972, demonstrate toward Lebanon Valley College. They are regular visitors to our campus, giving of their time and talents to benefit the College. How fortunate is this institution to have such friends holding the most important offices of our Commonwealth. Ladies and gentlemen, it is an honor for me to welcome Governor Tom Corbett.”
