Dr. Courtney Lappas, an immunologist with extensive experience in biomedical research and teaching, is the director of the Health and Biomedical Sciences Summer Camp. Dr. Lappas received her B.S. with a double major in Biology and Chemistry at the University of Richmond and continued on to receive her Ph.D. in Molecular Pharmacology at the University of Virginia. Following the completion of her doctoral work, Dr. Lappas worked as a Fellow at the National Institutes of Health. Published in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals, Dr. Lappas’s research is focused on the mechanisms underlying inflammatory disorders, as well as the development of novel pharmacological interventions to limit or prevent such pathologies. Currently an Assistant Professor of Biology at Lebanon Valley College, Dr. Lappas incorporates her experience in translational research into her teaching and mentoring.
