Educational Outreach Events 2013-2014

Monoprinting Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition Minna Citron: The Uncharted Course from Realism to Abstraction (November 1 - December 15, 2013), Nancy Williams, adjunct instructor of art and art education, hosted a mono-printing workshop with water-based inks on Saturday, November 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Monoprinting Workshop for Children
In conjunction with the exhibition Minna Citron: The Uncharted Course from Realism to Abstraction (November 1 - December 15, 2013), gallery intern Kara Gunderman, '14 and LVC art and art history student Lauren Brumbach, '15, conducted a mono-printing workshop for children on Saturday, November 16, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Educational Outreach Events 2012-2013

Social Documentary Photo Contest
In conjunction with the exhibition Gordon Parks: Crossroads (January 18 - March 17, 2013), the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery offered a Social Documentary Photo Contest, open to students in grades 9-12 and college. Cash awards were given to the top three photos, and all photo entries were displayed on the Lebanon Valley College campus. The award winners were as follows:

First Place: Savannah Moyer, A Fire and a Fool, with a Little Bit of Tobacco In-Between, photograph, Central Dauphin East High School
Second Place: Elaina Wanamaker, Untitled, photograph, Annville-Cleona Secondary School
Third Place: Jessye Grieve-Carlson, Untitled, photograph, Lebanon Valley College
Honrable Mention: Courtney Wanner, Late, photograph, Central Dauphin East High School

Photography Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition Gordon Parks: Crossroads, professional photographer and recipient of the 2006 Guggenheim Fellowship in Photography, Carl Socolow, hosted a workshop titled "Photographing Our Times: The Lyrical in the Banal" on Saturday, February 16, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.  

 

 

Monoprinting Workshop
Nancy Williams, LVC adjunct instructor of art and art education, conducted a workshop on contemporary monoprinting with water-based inks on Saturday, November 17, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., in conjunction with the exhibition Unnatural Disorder: Prints by Sue Coe.

Monoprinting Workshop for Children
Gallery intern Katlyn Landes, '12 and LVC art and art history student Marissa Ingeno conducted a monoprinting workshop for children on Saturday, November 17, 9-11:30 a.m.

Annville-Cleona Students Tour A Feast For the Eyes
Gallery intern Katlyn Landes, '12, led a group of students from Annville-Cleona Secondary School on a tour of the exhibition A Feast for the Eyes. Katlyn also designed a project and survey for the class, in conjunction with an independent study with LVC's department of art and art history.

 

"Sweet Creations" Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition A Feast for the Eyes, York artist Pat Wertz, a graduate of Moore College of Art, conducted a workshop on painting pastries and confections on Saturday, September 15, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

 

 

Educational Outreach Events 2011-2012

Photo Portrait Contest
In conjuction with the exhibition Arnold Newman: Luminaries of the Twentieth Century in Art, Politics and Culture (January 20 - March 18, 2012), the Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery offered a Photo Portrait Contest. The contest was open to students in grades 9-12 and college. Cash awards were given to the top three photos and the photos were displayed on the Lebanon Valley College campus. The award winners were as follows:

First Place: Lauren Huggler, Untitled, gelatin silver print, Nazareth Area High School
Second Place: Margo Reed: Layers of Dejection and Confusion, photograph, Oley Valley Senior High School
Third Place: Jennifer Oviedo, Self-Portrait, photograph, Central Dauphin East High School
Honorable Mention: Valeria Kolesnik, Self-Portrait, photograph, Central Dauphin East High School

Trompe L'Oeil Painting Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition A Feast for the Eyes, Maryland artist Eric Conklin conducted a workshop teaching the trompe l'oeil  painting method on Saturday, October 15, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mono-Printing Workshop
In conjunction with the exhibition Modernist Prints: 1900-1950, Nancy Williams, adjunct instructor of art and art education, Lebanon Valley College, hosted a workshop on contemporary mono-printing with water-based inks on Saturday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Educational Outreach Events - 2009-2010

The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery's 2010 Educational Outreach program included a four week creative art series for area middle school students. With the help of art teachers from local school districts, students worked on two projects in conjunction with the spring 2010 exhibition Piranesi: The Grandeur of Ancient Rome, focusing on the recreation of the city's ancient ruins.
