Timeline

Financial aid is determined on a yearly basis; therefore, families must apply for financial aid each year. The calendar below begins with October of the year prior to the student's anticipated start date (i.e. students planning to enroll in Fall 2011 should begin the activities listed in October 2010). The calendar continues through the cycle for returning students.

 

October:

  • Apply to Lebanon Valley College - you will have your decision within 2-3 weeks.
  • Begin searching for outside scholarships - visit your high school guidance office, search the Internet, and visit a library for information.

November:

  • The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the Web Worksheet is available in your high school guidance office.

January:

  • Plan to do your taxes as soon as possible - the FAFSA asks for information directly from your tax information.
  • The first day you can submit the FAFSA is January 1.
  • LVC's Institutional Data Form (IDF) is available online. LVC requires the FAFSA and IDF. Students whose FAFSA forms are selected by the federal government to undergo an additional process called verification will be further asked to complete and return a verification worksheet and to provide the Financial Aid Office with copies of parent and student federal tax returns, including all schedules and accompanying W-2 forms.
February:
  • Complete the FAFSA and IDF - the priority deadline for new students to submit the required financial aid documents is March 1.
March:
  • March 1 is the priority deadline for new students to apply for financial aid.
  • Financial award packages are mailed to new students on a rolling basis upon completion of the applications.
  • Attend LVC Live! A program designed for accepted students.
April:
  • Send your $200 admission deposit to the Admission Office and send the required, signed documents as described in your award letter, to the Financial Aid Office by May 1.
May:
  • May 1 is the deadline to accept admission to LVC.
  • Attend New Student Advising Day program - invitations will be sent from the Admissions Office.
  • Apply for Direct Loans between May 1 and June 1 if you want to borrow.
  • Sign up for HES Payment Plan if your family chooses to participate in this means of financing.
  • Apply for Parent PLUS Loan if your family chooses to participate in this means of financing.
  • Apply for Student Alternative Loan if your family chooses to participate in this means of financing. 

June:

  • Notify the Financial Aid Office if you have received any outside scholarships.

July:

  • Fall bills are mailed at the beginning of July and are due at the beginning of August.

August:  

  • Welcome to LVC!
  • Jobs are posted on the Job Board at www.lvc.edu as the Financial Aid Office recieves notification from employers.
  • Students who qualify for Perkins Loan must sign the required loan documents. If you were awarded a Perkins Loan, the Financial Aid Office will notify you by e-mail of the time and location to sign Perkins MPN. 

January:

  • The FAFSA Renewal and the IDF are available online for returning students.
  • The first day you can submit the FAFSA is January 1.

February:

  • Search for outside scholarships on the internet (see LVC's outside scholarship list and links page) and talk with your advisor about scholarships.
April:
  • April 1 is the priority deadline for returning students to complete and submit the FAFSA and IDF. Students whose FAFSA forms are selected by the federal government to undergo an additional process called verification will be further asked to complete and return a verification worksheet and to provide the Financial Aid Office with copies of parent and student federal tax returns, including all schedules and accompanying W-2 forms.

July:

  • Award packages are mailed on a rolling basis upon completion of the applications. 
  • Fall bills are mailed at the beginning of July and are due at the beginning of August.
  • Complete loan application (if you are borrowing).
