Resume Construction Guidelines

A great resume begins with doing a little homework. For starters you will want to:

  • Conduct a thorough analysis of the job description and research of the company. Employers will be pleased to see that you address their needs and requirements in the items you choose for your resume.
  • Make a list of your activities and accomplishments in class projects, research experiences, work history (paid/unpaid), volunteer activities, campus involvement, study abroad, etc. Brainstorm!
  • Articulate the skills you obtained from your activities and accomplishments. It is not the activity but what you accomplished through the activity that is of interest to employers.
