CAREER CONNECTIONS LINKS ALUMNI TO STUDENTS

There’s a common saying that it’s “all in who you know.” That’s certainly true for Lebanon Valley College students and graduates taking advantage of Career Connections, an online job exploration, networking, and mentoring program.


A survey conducted last week from Career Connections mentors provides evidence: “I had strong mentors when I was at LVC and would like to do the same for future students,” said one anonymous survey respondent. Another said, “I would be willing to consider LVC’s graduates for some of my entry level positions.”

FALL 2011 FIRST-YEAR SEMINARS

All incoming freshmen are required to fulfill the communications component of the General Education program by enrolling in either English Communications I or a First-Year Seminar course. Each year a number of First-Year Seminars are offered at Lebanon Valley with a variety of topics covered. Read along for a glimpse of this year’s offerings!


A very popular course taught by Dr. Karen Walker, associate professor of education, is titled Sex and the City: Exploring Different Perspectives on Sexuality. Centering on the HBO show Sex and the City, the class looks at modern-day issues of sexuality.

DUTCHMEN DAY TRADITION LIVES ON

The most highly anticipated LVC tradition was finally here on Monday, April 11 – Dutchmen Day – a day of fun and games and no classes for students and faculty.

“Dutchmen Day is nearly a ten-year-old tradition here at LVC," says Ashten O'Brien, president of student government. "The primary idea behind the day was simple, a surprise day off of classes for students and staff. Over the years, the day has grown and evolved into one of the most spectacular events at the College.”
