LVC Reflects on the People of the Jersey Shore to Prepare for Spring Break Trip
02.14.13 |
The next installment of Lebanon Valley College’s “Down the Shore” series will be held Tuesday, February 19 at 11 a.m. in the Miller Chapel Lobby. The series of culture-based conversations are held in advance of a spring break volunteer trip students will take to clean and rebuild Point Pleasant, N.J., an area hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.

Conversations are free and open to the public. A light pizza lunch will be provided for participants. Community members interested in attending should register by calling 717-867-6135 or by email

This particular conversation titled, “Down the Shore: The People of the Jersey Shore,” will consider the contributions of famous Jersey-shore habitants such as Jon Stewart, Brian Williams, Chris Christie, and many others.

“The Shore has brought us some of the finest leaders in society today and it is fascinating to learn about their connection to this particular part of the country,” said Paul Fullmer, chaplain at Lebanon Valley College and director of community service.

The presentation will provide an overview of the area, some history, and ways attendees can get involved in the cleanup efforts. Prepare for the upcoming event by taking this quiz for a chance to win Shriver's Taffy from Ocean City, N.J., while supplies last.

A total of 35 LVC students will willingly sacrifice their spring break to travel to the Jersey Shore with the Camp-Hill based volunteer organization, Lend A Hand. The trip will take place at the beginning of their spring break in early March.
