Lebanon Valley College's R||:evolution Music Conference will focus on the Christian music industry as part of its programming on Nov. 16 and 17. First, RMC is proud to present "A Night of Worship with Shelly E. Johnson" on Friday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m., with opening act Cassondra Diaz '14 and Cristabelle Braden '15. The free concert will take place in the narthex of Miller Chapel. Johnson will speak on two panels about the Christian music industry and songwriting in Saturday's conference.

Admission to both events is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required by Nov. 15. Late registration at the door will be accepted, but will require a $20 fee in support of Palmyra Circles of Lebanon County, a non-profit that helps families move up and out of poverty.

Worship music is a calling that Atlanta-based professional worship leader and songwriter Shelly E. Johnson has embraced with joyful surrender in her role as a worship leader at First Baptist Woodstock. She has a gift for writing songs that can lift a congregation and a heart for serving God that makes her one of the most influential young worship leaders of her generation.

Johnson's anthem, "Power of the Cross," has been recorded by Steve Green and Natalie Grant, and has become widely popular in churches across the country and in parts of the world. In 2008, "Power of the Cross" was awarded Song of the Year by the Gospel Music Association.

Raised in a strong Christian home, it wasn't until the age of 14 when her father tragically died from cancer that she experienced God for the very first time in a real and personal way. During that experience, Johnson began writing songs and sensing God's calling on her life to ministry.

Johnson followed her calling to Nashville, Tenn. in 2003 to attend Belmont University where she earned a bachelor's degree in commercial music. After graduating in 2007, her music began to gain the attention of the Christian music industry. Her song "Draw Near" was awarded Scripture Song of the Year in 2008 by the Gospel Music Association. In 2009, Johnson released her independent album "Mosaic of Grace" featuring the award-winning song "Power of the Cross."

Johnson signed her first publishing and recording deal with LifeWay Worship, in partnership with Maranatha! Music in February 2011. Her debut EP "Power of the Cross" was released in 2012 with the single "All Things Beautiful" playing frequently on Christian radio stations around the country. Johnson spends her free time writing songs and traveling the country leading worship at churches, women's conferences and other events.

LVC students Cassondra Diaz '14 and Cristabelle Braden '15, will perform a worship set together to open the concert. They are both music majors, involved with Christian Life, and lead worship frequently at the student-led worship services. Diaz opened for 4 Trinity in September, and her exceptionally strong soprano voice has served the College's highly exclusive Chamber Choir for the past two years. Braden will open for Talain Rayne on November 14 and is an independent Christian singer, songwriter, and speaker on brain injury.

The Chapel Concert Series will continue with Anthony Mossburg January 30 and Kim Goss February 27.

RMC was founded in 2003 and is run solely by LVC students. More info at www.lvc.edu/rmc.
