Lebanon Valley College’s Percussion Ensemble will perform its 25th anniversary concert Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center. The performance is free and open to the public.

“This year’s concert is really a celebration of everybody who is, and has been, involved in the program,” said Robert Nowak, adjunct professor of music at LVC and director of the show. Nowak has been an active part of the Percussion Ensemble for 25 years.

The anniversary celebration will involve the 18 ensemble students and 12 alumni performing on drums, cymbals, gongs, marimbas, chimes, bells, an xylophone, and a timpani.

“When I first started at LVC, we had 60 music majors and only eight players in the ensemble. Throughout the years, we’ve more than doubled in size,” Nowak said. “I have been fortunate to have dedicated, talented, and intelligent students.”

Arrangements will include pieces from Estucio Roasales, George Bizet, Franz Schubert, Ney Rosauro, Christopher Rouse, F. Michael Combs, Eric Whitacre, Jeffrey Willet ’10, David Gillingham, and A. Khacaturian and arrangements by C.O. Musser, Gordon Peters, C. Peeler, and J. Moore.
