Lebanon Valley College presents speaker Sean Arce and his “Save Ethnic Studies” college tour, in Miller Chapel Room 101 on October 24, 7 p.m.

Arce will discuss Arizona House Bill 2281 passed in 2010 that prohibits the teaching of ethnic studies courses to students in Tucson’s K-12 education system. Arce will describe the current lawsuit against the state’s board of education and the impact and importance of the ethnic studies program.

Sean Arce, Tucson Unified School District director of Mexican American studies, has a strong passion for helping others. In his school district he is dedicated to providing a culturally and historically relevant education for each one of the students.

Prior to this discussion there will be an October 17 showing of the documentary “Precious Knowledge” which provides background to the issue. The film will be shown at HACC Lebanon on the second floor student lounge at 11 a.m.

This discussion is hosted by Lebanon Valley College’s Multicultural Affairs Office and is co-sponsored by HACC Lebanon. For more information or questions concerning this event please contact Venus Ricks, director of multicultural affairs, at 717-867-6235.
