Chapel Concert Series Presents Constant Recourse
08.20.12 |
Lebanon Valley College's Chapel Concert Series will feature rock band Constant Recourse on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. in Miller Chapel. The Philadelphia-based band plays dynamic and memorable rock music for people who care about lyrics. Admission to the shows is free to LVC students with their college ID. Tickets for non-students are $6 in advance, $10 at the door.

Featuring electronic elements and striking harmonies, Constant Recourse encourages and challenges listeners with the message of the Gospel. The band has performed at venues ranging from colleges and universities to bars as well as churches and retreats.

"We're pleased to welcome another band of young, aspiring Christian artists to Lebanon Valley College," said Rev. Paul Fullmer, who serves as chaplain at LVC. "The members of this band provide an inspirational role model for the upcoming generation. We've been able to structure our pricing with local youth groups in mind, and hope that they will take advantage of the opportunity to experience Constant Resource here in Central Pennsylvania."

Since forming in 2006, Constant Recourse has released two full-length albums, "Something Brighter" and "Remain", and a Christmas EP, "Come, Emmanuel." This October, Constant Recourse will release their third full-length project, "There Is Freedom." The 15-track project is a combination of original music and unique arrangements of worship songs. According to the band, a driving idea behind "There Is Freedom" is that freedom from one thing often comes at the cost of surrendering to something else. Rather than pursuing the deceptive notion of radical independence, they say, real freedom is found in a liberating dependence on God, who loves us, knows our good, and works all circumstances to God's own praise.

Members of the band include Ben Mell, guitar and lead vocals; Matt Gore, keyboard; Luke Patterson, drums; and Jessica Mell, vocals. Their music can be previewed at the "Live at LVC" playlist at http://youtube.com/lebanonvalleycollege.

The Chapel Concert Series will continue with 4 Trinity Sept. 29 and Talain Rayne Nov. 14. Admission to the shows is free to LVC students with their college ID. Tickets for non-students are $6 in advance, $10 at the door. Advance orders for groups of 10 people or more are $4 per person and church youth group tickets are $2 per student.
