| Tips for Completing the FAFSA from LVC Financial Aid |

The priority deadline for filing financial aid forms for students enrolling at Lebanon Valley College for the first time this fall is March 1. Here are a few helpful tips from the LVC Financial Aid Office for families filling out the FAFSA for the first time:
1. Read the instructions for each question, even if you think you know what is being requested, read them anyway to be sure.
2. Without missing the FAFSA filing deadline required by LVC, file your 2012 federal tax return(s) electronically, wait two weeks, and then use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool while filing the FAFSA to automatically import your income from the IRS. If you are not able to meet LVC’s deadline, estimate your income and use the Data Retrieval Tool to update the figures when they are available. Most importantly, do not miss the financial aid deadline. Remember, the financial award package is only going to be as accurate as the information you provide on the FAFSA.
3. After the FAFSA is processed, you will receive a Student Aid Report. Please read over it carefully and make sure all your information is correct. You may make corrections online.
4. Make sure the student name reported on the FAFSA is how it appears on the Social Security card.
5. The FAFSA is a “tag team” effort for dependent students. Both the student and parent(s) should be involved in completing the form.
6. If you have unusual/ extenuating circumstances, contact the Financial Aid Office to report this information. You will not be able to include this type of information on the FAFSA.
7. Be cautious about paying anyone to do the FASFA for you. This is a free application. If you have questions, call the Financial Aid Office.
