Completing Lebanon Valley College’s six-year doctor of physical therapy program is no small feat for any student, but for Charlie Johnson ’11, D’13, the road has been especially long. He enrolled at LVC having already accomplished more than most high school graduates – kicked out of his home at age 14 while his parents struggled through divorce and substance abuse.

He navigated the college search, application, and enrollment process without any financial or personal support, and says that his main motivation was “never wanting to go back to the life I came from.” Johnson’s story is best told in his own words; view his personal account in this video.

He will walk the Valley’s Commencement stage for the second time Saturday, May 11, with 380 other LVC students at the College’s 144th Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies. For information, visit
