Sigma Alpha Iota to Perform Annual Pickwell Recital
04.10.13 |
Lebanon Valley College's professional women's music fraternity, Sigma Alpha Iota, will perform its annual Pickwell Concert Friday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Zimmerman Recital Hall of Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.

The Pickwell concert is an annual concert performed by the women to honor the late LVC music professor, Marcia Pickwell, who was also the advisor of the women's organization. Throughout the concert, ushers will collect voluntary donations for a scholarship fund in Pickwell's honor.

"The Pickwell concert is one of SAI's favorite events of the year," said Sigma Alpha Iota president Elise Wysocki.

This year's concert will feature a variety of music, including two selections from the Sigma Alpha Iota songbook including "Rose Petals" and "SAI Garden." Other pieces include "Blood Brothers" by Ingrid Michaelson, a mashup of Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood hits. Classical selections will feature a flute trio and trumpet solo. The Ukeladies will also make their debut as a ukulele ensemble.

"I am excited for this year's performance. There will be an interesting variety of music that requires a lot of talent," said Miranda Moyer, co-music director.

The men of the College's professional men's music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, will also perform two songs, including "For the Longest Time" in the style of Billy Joel.

"Each year, the Pickwell recital has been more entertaining, beautiful, and well-attended. We like to set the bar and are anxious for this year's performance," said Jenna Parrilla, co-music director.
