Published fiction author and Lebanon Valley College faculty member Juan Martinez will present a reading from his recent publications at LVC on Wednesday, February 20 in Lutz Hall of the Blair Music Center at 7 p.m. Martinez's reading is free and open to the public.

Martinez's work has been published in numerous literary journals and anthologies including "Glimmer Train," "McSweeney's," "Conjunctions," "Pindeldyboz," NPR's "Selected Shorts," Norton's "Suddenly Fiction Latino: Short-Short Stories from the United States and Latin America," and "The Perpetual Engine of Hope: Stories Inspired by Iconic Vegas Photographs."

For this event, Martinez will read his short story, "The Lead Singer is Distracting Me," and a short excerpt from his novel, "Extended Stay." Martinez and his work were featured on WITF 89.5 FM on February 6.

Martinez is an assistant professor of English at Lebanon Valley College where he teaches literature and creative writing classes. He completed his undergraduate and master's education at the University of Central Florida and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Martinez's reading is sponsored by the LVC English Department and the Green Blotter Society, as part of the Agnes O'Donnell Poets & Writers series. The series was established by a gift of the late Agnes M. Boyle O'Donnell, professor emerita of English. She served the English Department from 1961 to 1987 and participated actively in College activities during her retirement. O'Donnell passed away in 2008.
