The Chronicle of Higher Education Profiles LVC's Work on Assessment
10.02.13 |
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) small team visit led by Dr. Valerie Lehr of St. Lawrence University and Dr. Kathleen Harring of Muhlenberg College occurred on April 11-12, 2013. At the conclusion of this visit, Lehr recommended that Lebanon Valley College’s warning for lack of compliance with assessment standards 7 and 14 be lifted. The team complimented the work done by the campus community and urged the College to “tell its story” so that other institutions could follow LVC’s example.

The College acted upon this recommendation. Earlier this week, The Chronicle of Higher Education published "How a College Took Assessment to Heart." It presents a comprehensive examination of the College’s success in having its warning status lifted in less than a year. It highlights much of the information published on the College’s assessment website at

"We hope our story will resonate with many readers, and particularly with other institutions of higher learning who face similar challenges regarding assessment issues," said Marty Parkes, LVC executive director of marketing and communications.
